In this two-session course, students will learn about various knife designs, the reasoning behind certain knife shapes, as well as how to design your own knife, and bring it to life via the traditional Stock Removal Method.  The vast majority of knives on the market today are produced using stock removal because it is a great way to produce a blade that is both attractive and reliable.

The first session will begin with a brief lecture and then students will get right into working in the shop for the remainder of the first session and the entirety of the second session. During shop time, they will gain experience using the bandsaw, belt-grinder, and forge.  After learning the basics, students will have the opportunity to  imagine their own design, bring their blade to life in the forge, and finalize their masterpiece using the rest of the metal machinery.

The instructor for this course is not only an expert in knife making, but also boasts a wealth of experience gathered from years of working as a U.S. Navy SEABEE, as well as a background in basic survival and wilderness first-responder training. This is a special opportunity to make a truly unique product or gift.

A $50 materials fee covers each student’s metal and wood consumables.

Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork. Our shop can be a little tricky to find so we suggest giving yourself extra time for traffic and parking.

**Please wear closed-toe shoes. Students should wear long sleeved natural fiber shirts, long pants and long hair must be pulled back.**
