Love using the lasers? This class is for students looking to advance and expand their laser skills. During the first half of this 2.5 hour class, students will learn how to use, and will be tested out on, the Epilog laser and the rotary device. The Epilog engraves photos and other black and white bitmaps; the rotary device engraves cylinders, such as glasses and wine bottles.
Second half of class is reserved for advancing students' individual projects and, time permitting: box-making, gears, the value of laser jigs (improve accuracy and expedite production), masking tips, focus effects, glass and acrylic tips and troubleshooting.
This class is for those who:
Want to learn how to, and be allowed to, use different tools;
Have projects in which you seek direction/assistance from a more experienced guide;
Have laser-based questions about making the machines run better for your specific needs;
Took the laser class a long time ago, but worry you've forgotten.
Don't be afraid to ask questions here.
Don't be intimidated.
Do pay close attention as there's a LOT to cover.
Your instructor's lasered artwork adorns businesses throughout San Diego and was even on QVC earlier this year. He also speaks quickly, so bring your quagmire, your ai/plt/eps/svg/etc, your pen, and perhaps some caffeine, and let's get you where you need to be!
A $5 materials fee covers each student's glassware and some acrylic/wood for laser engraving.
Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork. Our shop can be a little tricky to find so we suggest giving yourself extra time for traffic and parking.
